How long does a Shower installation take
Enter your coThis can vary depending on the type of shower and the trades involved. A typical shower cubicle with an acrylic shower base, wall liner, and glass shower screen usually requires several trades: builder, plumber, gib stopper, painter, and shower installer.
Example timeline for a standard acrylic shower:
Day 1: Builder removes old shower and carries out any remedial work. This may include installing new plywood flooring and replacing timber in the walls.
Day 2: Plumber installs the new shower base, mixer, and in-wall pipes.
Day 3: Builder fixes new gib to the walls and applies the first coat of gib stopping to the joints (not required where the shower liner will go, only the surrounding areas).
Day 4: Sanding and application of the second coat of gib stopping.
Day 5: Sanding and application of the top coat of gib stopping.
Day 6: Painting the surrounding area.
Day 7: Installation of the shower liner and glass screen (requires 7 days of drying time before use).
Day 8: Plumber completes the fit-off of the shower mixer and shower rose.
In reality, the entire process can take around two weeks, sometimes longer if there are delays.
For a tiled shower, the process is similar but includes two coats of waterproofing. Depending on the complexity of your chosen tiles, tiling can take anywhere from 2 days to 1 week.
Custom-built showers may require locally made glass, adding up to 10 working days. Special coloured hardware (powder-coated, anodised, or electroplated) can also add up to 10 working days.
We also offer a great range of frameless glass options in standard sizes (1960mm height) for a much faster turnaround — just two visits:
